The Spiderman That I Want
Spiderman is probably one of the most favorable superheroes in our era, along with Batman or Iron Man. But I never like Tom Holland interpretation of Spiderman. I have some reasons that I finally figure out: I think Peter Parker is supposed to be a LOSER.
In Homecoming, Peter Parker had to deal with a school life while being a superhero. He had a hard time talking to a girl she liked, he missed some classes, he couldn't have time to hang out with her friends, bad grades, and pretty much that's it. That's the good part of this version of Spidey. We know that he's just a human like us. But Peter Parker used to be actually more than that. He was a loser in Tobey's interpretation.
Peter Parker couldn't just talk to Mary Jane, he was basically ignored by everyone as he was socially awkward. Nobody couldn't understand him. He was a nice person but he always lost by the arrogant and physically strong guys, made him lost self-confidence.
He also had a financial problem. He had a side-job. He tried wrestling to get some instant money. He was not impressive. Peter Parker wasn't admirable at all and nobody recognized him. That was why while not being a Spiderman, he was totally safe because no one really knew him. No one cared. Although he was smart, even his professor wasn't impressed because having multiple identities made him not the best student there. It was just sad about Peter Parker. Unlucky. No justice for him.
Let's compared it with Tom Holland's Peter Parker. He has no reason to be a loser. He is smart. His school is proud of him. He has friends in his club. He has a best friend who is loyal to him. It's actually perfect. The new Peter Parker is just hot-headed and so excited by him being a Spiderman, makes him irresponsible. This 'new Peter Parker' is not a loser, he's just childish and careless, and that's not relatable.
Another thing that bothers me is Peter Parker talks a lot. As I said earlier, Peter Parker is a shy guy. He almost can't tell his opinion to people because he has no gut to do it. He's more like a listener than a talker. He is supposed to talk a lot only when he wears the mask and he's not being himself. He may also be a chit-chatter in front of Ned. He talks a lot as Spidey because, sadly, Peter has a lot of things to say too, something that only is kept in his mind all this time.
Can you imagine the old version of Peter Parker plays the Spidey in the MCU? Won't it be awesome? Going with the plot, we saw him joined the civil war and fought Captain America. Peter Parker's vlog will also be 'loud' but only when he puts on the mask because of his confidence issue. He's excited to get the new suit and long story short he comes back to go to school lowkey proud of himself.
At first, we're gonna see the people in his school still doesn't care with him. Still bullied, physically and verbally with no reason. Stutters when he tried to talk to his crush, completely out of words. He only hangs out with Ned, talking about the nerdy stuff. In all that miserable things happen to him, he looks at the window, looks at the buildings at smirks.
Then after school, he changes into Spiderman completely becomes a different person. He does all the Spidey stuff. The sequences in the Homecoming is actually good tho. In this scene, we see the contrast of him being a Peter Parker and being Spidey. Something that later will be judged if he will still be worthy to be the friendly neighborhood superhero without his suit.
The story goes on and it ends with him learning that he doesn't need to be Spiderman first to help people and become responsible with his super-power. Peter Parker who lacks in many things also worth to be called a 'hero'. The End. Perfect.
